How Zunde handles personal information when you use zunde.app, the Zunde farmer app or the Zunde buyer app.
01
What this policy covers
This policy explains how Zunde handles personal information when you use zunde.app, the Zunde farmer app or the Zunde buyer app. Zunde is operated by Cherubim Invest (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa (registration number 2025/233538/07). It decides how this information is used and answers for it under the data protection laws that apply, including Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
02
Information you give us
When you register we collect your name, email address, phone number and password. Farmers also give their farm's name and location, what they grow and, if they choose, registrations, certificates, farm records such as spray and harvest records, plot boundaries and photographs. Buyers also give their business name and delivery details where they have them. We hold what you create: listings, posts, quotes, orders and messages. Your password is kept by our sign-in service as a one-way code that we cannot read. If you sign in or recover your account by phone, we send a code to your number by SMS or WhatsApp.
03
Information collected as you use Zunde
Our servers record technical details of each visit, such as IP address, device and browser type and the time of each request. The apps record which screens and features you use, so that we can see what works and improve it. The apps read your location only when you choose to use it, for example to place your farm on the map or to find farms near you. If an app crashes, a crash report goes to Google's Firebase Crashlytics. zunde.app uses Google Analytics to count page views and searches.
04Important
What is public
A farm's public page, its listings, prices, photographs and posts can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in, and may appear in search engines. Contact details a farmer adds to the farm's public page are public too. A farm's Market Readiness and its verified certificates are shown to buyers. A buyer's details are shown to a farmer when the buyer messages that farmer, asks for a quote or places an order.
05Important
Programmes and co-operatives
When a farmer accepts an invitation from an aggregator, a buyer organisation or a co-operative, or applies to its programme, that organisation can see the farm's detailed record: its listings, its Market Readiness and gaps, its registrations and certificates and their status, and the messages between them. Until then the organisation sees only what is public.
06
How we use information
We use your information to create and secure your account, to show listings to buyers and requests to farmers, to deliver messages, quotes, orders and alerts, to work out Market Readiness, to check documents, to answer support requests, to prevent misuse, to improve Zunde and to meet our legal duties. Some features use automated services to read a photographed document or to answer a question in words, and what you submit to those features is processed for that purpose. We do not sell personal information. We do not show advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.
07
Service providers and the law
We use service providers to host the platform, store files, send email, SMS and WhatsApp messages, deliver alerts, report crashes, count visits, and read documents or answer questions automatically. They handle information only to provide those services to us. We disclose information when the law requires it. If Zunde's business is transferred, the information moves with it under this policy.
08
Cookies and storage on your device
zunde.app and the apps keep you signed in by saving a session key on your device. zunde.app sets Google Analytics cookies to count visits. It sets no advertising cookies. Fonts and icons load from Google Fonts and the cdnjs library network, which receive your IP address as any web host does.
09
Alerts
Alerts are sent only if you allow them on your phone or in your browser. Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers them. You can turn them off in your device or browser settings at any time.
10
Where information is kept
The company that operates Zunde is in South Africa and the platform runs on cloud infrastructure outside Zimbabwe, so your information is transferred to and stored in other countries. Where the law sets conditions for such a transfer, we follow them.
11
Security
Information travels between your device and Zunde over an encrypted connection. Access inside Zunde is limited to staff who need it for their work. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we will tell you and the data protection authority as the law requires.
12
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law or need to settle a dispute. Messages, quotes and orders may stay in the records of the people you dealt with.
13Important
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw a consent you gave. Correct your details in your profile. Use the delete account page to ask for deletion. For anything else write to support@zunde.app. You may also complain to the data protection authority: in Zimbabwe, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), and in South Africa, the Information Regulator.
14
Children
Zunde is for adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect a child's information.
15
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy as Zunde or the law changes. We will tell you by email, by a message in the app or on this page before a material change takes effect. The date on this page shows when it last changed.
